2007 Bond Issue Street Resurfacing & Repair Project
PROJECT NAME: 2007 Bond Issue Street Resurfacing & Repair
OWNER: City of Centralia
LOCATION: Centralia, Marion County, Illinois
CONSTRUCTION COST: $1,600,000
YEAR COMPLETED: 2008 and 2009
PROJECT DESCRIPTION: The City of Centralia employed our firm to prepare
preliminary and final plans, specifications, and estimates for approximately
6.9 miles of cold-milling and hot-mix asphalt resurfacing to various City
streets. The areas selected for improvement were prioritized through an
inspection and rating system conducted on all streets within the City. The
project also included select storm sewer repair and removal and replacement of
areas of deteriorated concrete curb and sidewalk. New storm sewer and Curb and
gutter were added to Sixth Street in an area that previously had roadside
ditches. The project cost was funded with General Revenue Bonds to be repaid by
Motor Fuel Tax (MFT) funds from the City’s annual allotment. The project was
constructed in 4 phases over a two year period and was subject to full review
and approval by the Illinois Department of Transportation. Our firm was also
retained to perform construction services including staking, materials testing,
construction observation and contract administration.
