Obernuefemann Road Improvement Project
PROJECT NAME: Obernuefemann Road Improvements
OWNER: City of O’Fallon
LOCATION: O’Fallon, St. Clair County, Illinois
CONSTRUCTION COST: $1,052,000
YEAR COMPLETED: 2008 (Pending)
PROJECT DESCRIPTION: The City of O’Fallon employed our firm to prepare
the Project Development Report, preliminary and final plans, specifications, and
estimates for the improvement of a 3,495 L.F. (0.66 mile) portion of
Obernuefemann Road. This City street is classified as a collector and is
located primarily within a residential area. It serves to carry traffic to
homes, schools, parks and businesses. The project was funded with FHWA Surface
Transportation Program (STP) Funds as administered by the Illinois Department of
Transportation. During construction, the entire road was closed to thru
traffic, but the project was phase-constructed to maintain emergency vehicle
access and allow entry to local homes and businesses. The project included new
storm sewer pipe and inlets, new concrete integral curb and gutter, aggregate
base course, asphalt surface course, driveway repair, and concrete sidewalk.
Close coordination with City officials was needed to assure the project would
complement the new O’Fallon Sports Park constructed along the entire west side
of the roadway. Our firm was also retained to perform construction services
including staking, materials testing and assistance with construction
observation and contract administration.
