PROJECT DESCRIPTION: Sherbut-Carson-Claxton, LLC employed our firm to
prepare the Intersection Design Study (IDS) and Construction Plans,
Specifications, and Estimate for the intersection of a new subdivision entry
roadway (Stonebridge Bluff Drive) intersecting an existing state highway (IL
Route 157). All phases of the project were subject to IDOT review for
compliance with IDOT standard policies and procedures. The IDS analysis was
completed using Highway Capacity Software (HCS). Turning movements and corner
radii were developed using AUTOTURN software for the appropriate design vehicle,
and the intersection sight distance was checked. The project included the
addition of a left-turn lane on IL Route 157. The construction scope included
asphalt widening and paving, asphalt shoulders, ditching, drainage culverts,
thermoplastic pavement markings and driveway removal and replacement.
