Venita Drive Bridge Over CSXT Railroad
OWNER: City of O’Fallon
LOCATION: O’Fallon, St. Clair County, Illinois
CONSTRUCTION COST: $7,260,600 (Est.)

PROJECT DESCRIPTION: The City of O’Fallon employed our firm to prepare
the Project Development Report, Intersection Design Study (IDS), Type Size and
Location Drawings (TS&L) preliminary and final plans, specifications, and
estimates for the improvement of a signalized intersection and the construction
of a new grade-separated railroad crossing. The project is reconstruction of
the Venita Drive/Highway 50 Intersection and the construction of a new Bridge on
Venita Drive over the CSXT Railroad. Venita Drive is classified as a collector
and serves to carry traffic to homes, schools, parks and businesses. The
intersection project is funded with FHWA Congestion Mitigation Air Quality
(CMAQ) Funds and the Bridge over CSXT is funded by Grade Crossing Protection
Funds (GCPF). Both funding programs are administered by the Illinois Department
of Transportation. The project includes new storm sewer pipe and inlets, new
concrete integral curb and gutter, aggregate base course, asphalt paving,
driveway repair, steel girder bridge, approach embankment, concrete sidewalk and
traffic signal modification. Close coordination is needed to assure the project
will complement the new O’Fallon Sports Park. Our firm also prepared and
submitted the grant applications to secure the CMAQ and GCPF funding.
