PROJECT DESCRIPTION: The Illinois Department of Transportation (IDOT) employed our firm to provide construction inspection for the access roads, parking lots and landscaping for the World Shooting and Recreational Complex in Sparta, Illinois. IDOT provided oversight on all roadway and parking paving for the project site that is managed by the Illinois Department of Natural Resources (IDNR). During roadway and parking construction, IDNR also had multiple contracts underway to construct recreation sites, shooting event areas, site utilities and buildings. The overall site covers 1,600 acres and includes 1,000 RV campsites and 120 trap fields extending over 3.5 miles. The total cost of the project was more than $40 million.
