PROJECT DESCRIPTION: The City of Salem employed our firm to prepare
preliminary and final plans, specifications, and estimates for approximately
1.74 miles of improvements to City streets. The project includes areas of
cold-milling and hot-mix asphalt resurfacing, areas of reconstruction with base
aggregate and hot-mix asphalt surface to repair severe pavement failure and
areas of pavement patching and hot-mix asphalt resurfacing. The project also
includes removal and replacement of areas of deteriorated concrete curb and
sidewalk. The project cost is funded with Motor Fuel Tax (MFT) funds from the
City’s annual allotment. The project was subject to full review and approval by
the Illinois Department of Transportation. Our firm was also retained to
perform construction services including staking, materials testing, construction
observation and contract administration. The construction letting for this
project was completed in 2009.
